The Hawley Nuggets came up on the short end of a 66-48 score in their opener against Ada-Borup West.  Brevin Stoa and Landon Bakke led the Nuggets with 20 and 12 points, respectively.  “We had stretches tonight where we played some really good defense,” said Head Coach Nate Stoa of Hawley.  “Our communication wasn’t up to where it needs to be to beat a good team like Ada-Borup West, though.”

The Cougars were led by Austin McCraven and Charles Scholl with 18 points apiece and Cadyn Dahl with 13.  Wyatt Larson chipped in with 8 points.

“Offensively, we were stagnant at times, but that will get better as we have a committed group of athletes,” added Coach Stoa.  “What matters more than the game itself was that we were able to fill the gym to honor a great man and a great coach, Ron Ohren, who has impacted a lot of lives through his years of coaching and has ties to all of the communities involved in tonight’s contest.  Thanks to all who came to support Coach O.”
