Willow Thiel had a career high 34 points on Thursday night as the Perham girls’ basketball team posted an 80-55 road victory over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.  The Jackets started strong and kept going from there.  The score was 21-6 before Perham missed a shot and they led 45-31 at the half.  DGF made 6 three’s in the first half to keep it close, but the Perham girls were hard to stop.  The Yellowjackets increased their lead to 55-31 when they went on a 10-0 run to start the second half.

While Ryleigh Mickelson, Cora Grismer, and Kaia Starzl hounded the Rebels, Thiel went to work inside, scoring 21 of her 34 points in the second half.  “Such unselfish play by three guards to pass up open looks to get her the ball over and over again,” noted Head Coach TJ Super.  “When the starters went out with under 6 minutes left in the game, the score had already ballooned to 8.”

Grismer (17) and Kennedy Pilgrim (13) were also in double figures in the game and Mickelson led the Jackets with 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

The win was the 20th straight Section victory and Perham now has 24 HOL wins in their last 25 conference games.

Perham (2-0) will play Minnehaha Academy at noon Saturday in Hopkins.
