The Parkers Prairie boys’ basketball team was hit hard by graduation as they return only two letter winners and one starter from their 11-14 team.  “We are a young inexperienced varsity team with only one returning starter and some big shoes to fill from last years’ graduating seniors,” acknowledged third-year head coach Drew Johnson.  “I’m excited to see which athletes step up and fill those roles as the season moves forward.”  Johnson will be assisted by David Holm.

Dylan Debilzen and Cohen Noska are back from last season.  Mason Boesl, Leighton Gesell, Reid Hartman, Jackson Hubbling, Eric Lorsung, Dominic Reiman, Nolan Steidl, Ben Wagner and Chacous Wendt are all expected to be in the varsity mix.

“I believe coming off a state tournament appearance in football with a majority of our players on the football team will carry over into the basketball season with the hard work ethics and positive mindsets that they bring to the court,” stated Johnson.  “The boys have been very successful in their athletics and the classroom which should translate to the success the team will see this year.”

Coach Johnson sees Battle Lake, Hillcrest and Border West as the teams to beat in the Little Eight Conference and Section 6A.
