A year ago the Perham boys’ basketball team finished their season 22-6 overall and went 11-1 in the HOL on the way to a conference championship.  Following the season, long time head coach Dave Cresap stepped down and was replaced by Kyle Haberman.  “With no returning starters we will look quite a bit different this year, but we do have a good group of players willing to step up,” stated Haberman.  “We will really depend on the process of learning a new system, while also maintaining the principles Perham basketball is known for.”

Two former starters, Micah Thompson (UW-River Falls) and Soren Anderson (Northwestern) are continuing to play basketball at the college level.  Alex Ohm, Jacob Daniels and Evan Kovash were also lost to graduation.

Returning letter winners include seniors Mason Happel (Guard), Gage Aanenson (Guard) and Blaiz Schmidt (Forward) and junior Ashton Detloff (Forward).

Seniors Brandon Sandberg (Center), Dylan Ralston (Forward) and Brekken Wokasch (Guard), along with juniors Cole Reuter (Guard), Alex Blume (Guard) and Maddux Swentik (Forward) will also be expected to contribute at the varsity level.

Haberman will be assisted by Grant Dierkhising (JV), Brian Robertson (C Team), Aaron Solberg and Judd Soule (Head of Managers).

Coach Haberman says Hawley and Pelican Rapids are the favorites in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and are joined by East Grand Forks as top teams in Section 8AA.
