The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team moves back up to Section 8AAA this season and as always, competes in a very strong Central Lakes Conference.  The Otters have returning starters Karyssa Eberle (SR, Post) and Brynn Sternberg (JR, Guard) back. The two of them will be joined by Madi Budke (SR, Guard) as team captains this season.

“We are going to be long and athletic,” stated third-year Head Coach Josh Steer.  “This team is going to be defense-focused and work extremely hard on both ends of the floor.  They are going to be fun to watch!  We have a few experienced players coming back, along with some girls that got a little experience late in the season last year.”

Bella Anderson (JR, Forward), Julia Hajicek (JR, Guard), Hattie Fullhart (SO, Guard) and Ruby Ellison (SO, Guard) all received extensive varsity experience a year ago and are expected to make even more of an impact at that level this season.

“We are back in Section 8AA now and it is a very difficult Section,” acknowledged Coach Steer.  “I expect Willmar, Alexandria and St. Cloud to be the top teams.  Of course, the Central Lakes Conference is loaded as well with those three teams and Brainerd as the favorites.  We expect to compete and have to bring our best every night.”

Steer will be assisted by Dan Sternberg (Varsity Assistant), Jess Price (JV) and Matt Lemke (9th Grade).
