The West Central Area girls’ basketball team lost 1,000 point scorer Claire Stark, now playing at UM-Morris, to graduation, but have several returning letter winners from their 10-14 team of a year ago.  The Knights advanced to the second round of the playoffs last season, beating Minnewaska Area in the first round after having lost to the Lakers twice during the regular season.

“I am very excited for this season,” said Head Coach Becca Holland.  “We are building off the foundation we laid last year with myself being new to the program.  We have moved down to Section 6A but we will continue to play in a AA conference.  I am excited to watch these girls grow and challenge each other.”

Juniors Addison Staples, Mya Foslien, Macy Grosz and Jayden Styba are returning starters for the Knights.  Returning letter winners are seniors Sydney Ulrich, Maya Krusemark and Madi Krusemark, juniors Brooklyn Strobel and Sidney Huntley, and sophomores Nora Anderson, Madison Fagre, Izzy Puchalski and Lily Mahoney.  Ulrich, Foslien and Grosz will serve as team captains.

Assistant coaches are Lucas Beireis and Nic Johnson.

Coach Holland says Henning, Hancock and Underwood are the top teams in Section 6A, with Sauk Centre, Minnewaska Area and BOLD the top teams in the West Central Conference.
