Rachel Debrito’s first goal of the season broke a tie at 6:25 of the third period and Ella Starzl’s empty net goal with 14 seconds remaining put the game away as Fergus Falls picked up a 4-2 road win at Thief River Falls on Friday night.  The Otters improve to 2-2-1 with the victory.

“They came out and got two on us right away,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “I was happy with the effort after that.  Our forecheck was phenomenal tonight.  Nice to have 3 lines that give us high energy when they are on the ice.”

The Prowlers scored 25 seconds into the game when Kali Knutson buried the puck off an assist from Lila Dalager.  At 2:58, Brynn Hennen made it a 2-0 TRF lead with assists from Knutson and Julia RudeLydia Johnson got the Otters on the board at 5:02, with an assist from Debrito.

Johnson tied the game early in the second period when she scored off an assist from Hannah Johnson.

After Debrito gave the Otters the lead, Fergus Falls had to kill a five-minute major penalty to Lydia Johnson, which they did, preserving the lead.

Fergus Falls had 32 shots on goal and Ana Jyrkas has 19 stops in the Otter net.

Fergus Falls will face Crookston at 10:00am Saturday in Thief River Falls.
