The Breckenridge Cowgirls lost four players to graduation last spring, including a trio of starters.  Abby Johnson and Addie Twidwell are now playing college volleyball for NDSCS in Wahpeton.  Kelsey Ceroll was also a starter, and Grace Miranowski also graduated.  Johnica Bernotas (SO, G) and Parker Yaggie (SO, G/F) are returning starters, while Sydni Roberts (JR, G) and Emily Gowin (SO, G) also return with varsity experience.

Piper Jaehning (FR, G) will be looking to get minutes at the guard position, and Mariah Koltes (FR, P) will be looking for minutes in the post.

“There are a few other ninth graders also looking to fill minutes,” says first year Head Coach Tony Bogenreif. “We are a very young team who is looking to build depth and basketball IQ as the season progresses.  There will be no seniors and only 2 juniors on our roster.  We will look to use the leadership of our returning players to help develop and guide our youthfulness.  By midseason, we will hopefully have a good rotation and a better idea of who will fill certain roles.”

Roberts, Bernotas and Yaggie will serve as team captains.  Bogenreif will be assisted by Tim Jaehning and Brenda Dahlgren.

Bogenreif points to Hancock and Underwood as top teams in Section 6A, while Perham and Pelican Rapids are his teams to beat in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
