Eden Prairie Hands Lady Cards 4-2 Defeat at the Runestone

Eden Prairie paid a visit to the Runestone Arena for a girls’ hockey game against the Alexandria Cardinals on Friday, November 17.  Shots on goal favored the visitors, 34-31, and the Eagles were 4-2 winners.  The loss put the lady Cards at 2-2 to start the season.

 

Eden Prairie scored the lone first period goal when Lizzie Swartout found the back of the net at 2:01.  Assists were recorded by Addy Mitchell and Ella Konrad.

Mitchell made it 2-0 with a goal at 7:38 of the second period, assisted by Lauren Pottinger and Sara DavidSophia Korynta’s power play goal at 11:04 got Alexandria on the board.  The goal was assisted by Emma Ramstorf.  At 15:35, Pottinger put the two-goal lead back on the board for the visitors as she scored from Mitchell and David for a 3-1 advantage after two periods.

Eden Prairie expanded their lead to 4-1 with a goal from Ava Moe at 2:39 of the third.  Jordan Elvecrog assisted on the goal.  Alexandria concluded the scoring at 7:02 when Jersey Severson assisted on Skylar Thorson’s goal.

Tegan Swanson made 29 saves in the Eden Prairie net, while Alexandria’s Rachael Mohr stopped 30 of 34 shots on goal.

Alexandria will travel to Fergus Falls for their next game on Tuesday, November 21.
