Alexandria Girls Suffer First Defeat with 5-1 Loss at Orono

A three goal second period carried Orono to a 5-1 victory over the Alexandria girls’ hockey team on Tuesday, November 14.  The loss was the first of the year for the lady Cards, coming on the heels of back-to-back shutouts to start the season.  Orono put 37 shots on the Alexandria net, while the Cardinals managed just 13 shots on goal.

 

Emma Ramstorf spotted the lady Cards a 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally at 6:28 of the opening period, however, Zoe Lopez tied the game at 12:34 with an assist from Macy Rasmussen.  That marked the start of five straight goals scored by the home team.

A power play goal by Grace Bickett at 2:16 of the second period was setup by Lopez.  That goal was followed by even strength goals from Lopez, assisted by Maddy Kimbrel at 7:21, and Alex Christian, with assists from Brooke Rose and Alex Paulsen at 9:13.

In the third period, Gabi Lopez wrapped up the scoring at 7:47.  Rasmussen and Bickett picked up assists on the goal.

Rachael Mohr stopped 32 of 37 shots in the Alexandria net, while Orono goalie Vivienne Anderson made 12 saves on 13 shots.
