Lady Spartans Record Road Win at Ellendale, ND

The M State lady Spartans traveled to Ellendale, North Dakota on Monday night for a game with Trinity Bible College.  The two teams were tied 17-17 at the end of one quarter, but M State took charge in the second quarter with a 25-14 advantage which led to a 42-31 halftime lead.  The lady Spartans went on to record a 67-59 road win.

 

The lady Spartans hit 41% (25-61) of their field goal attempts and 31.3% (5-16) of their 3’s.  They struggled on the boards though as Trinity Bible had 50 total rebounds, 20 of them on the offensive side, and M State had just 27.

Mo Bugbee led four lady Spartans in double figures with 16 points.  Jayna Gronewold added 13, Maddie Ballweg had 11 and Madi Foss finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds.  Gronewold had 4 assists and 3 steals, Itzel Salazar had a team high 4 steals and contributed 7 points, and Bugbee registered 3 steals.  Foss and Ballweg each had a pair of assists.

Trinity Bible College was led by Kayleigh Mannerinig and Rachel DeCampos with 13 points apiece, and Brenna Anderson with 11.  Marlyssa Ledgerwood pulled down a game high 16 rebounds and contributed 8 points.  They shot 31% (21-68) from the field and made 25% (6-24) of their 3-point attempts.

M State (2-1) will go to Wahpeton on Wednesday for a 5:30pm matchup with NDSCS.
