The M State Men’s Basketball team held the Northland Pioneers to 43 points on 33% (16-48) and forced 17 turnovers in their 75-43 victory on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. M State took excellent care of the ball, turning it over only 10 times, and made 40.8% (29-71) of their field goal attempts. They also had a 39-30 advantage on the boards. M State led 32-23 at the half and took control in the second half, outscoring the Pioneers 43-20 over the final 20 minutes.
Javin Tindal (11 points, 11 rebounds) registered a double-double and Mason Muir led the Spartans with 29 points and added 4 assists. Belind Alemadi and Mikele Kambalo finished with 10 and 9 points, respectively. Kambalo dished out a team high 6 assists. Marqual Turner grabbed 8 rebounds and came up with 3 steals, while scoring 4 points.
Leaders for Northland were Shawn Greene (8 points, 5 rebounds), Joey Nimmer (8 points), Tavon Petteway (7 points, 6 rebounds) and Shawndale King (7 points, 3 rebounds.
M State (2-1) will travel to Sisseton, South Dakota on Tuesday night for a game against Sisseton-Wahpeton.
