Hannah Johnson scored a pair of goals and assisted on a third, while Ana Jyrkas stopped all 12 shots she faced on Saturday as the Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team recorded a 4-0 shutout win over the Tigers in Marshall.  It was the first win of the season for the Otters, who are now 1-1-1.

Fergus Falls scored 57 seconds into the game when Lydia Johnson walked in and tallied an unassisted goal.  That was the only goal of the first two periods and the Otters first goal of the season.

The offense came alive in the third when Averie Tonneson scored from Hannah Johnson at 4:43 of the period.  At 11:04, Hannah notched her first goal with an assist from Brook Zierden.  Hannah’s second goal was registered at 13:44 of the third period, off an assist from Maddison Brimhall.

Fergus Falls had 24 shots on goal in the game.

“We decided to play like we can in the third,” stated Head Coach Tim Lill of Fergus Falls.  “We outworked Marshall, causing turnovers that resulted in much needed goals.  Lydia got us an early one, then Hannah finished.”

Fergus Falls will host Alexandria on Tuesday night and will play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday in Thief River Falls, facing the Prowlers on Friday night and the Crookston Pirates at 10:00am Saturday.
