The High School Girls Hockey season is underway. The Fergus Falls Otters hosted Wayzata on Friday night at the Community Ice Arena and the visitors had a 35-12 advantage in shots on goal, recording a 3-0 win. Senior goalie Ana Jyrkas was outstanding in net, stopping 32 shots.
Morgan Kennedy scored from Jenna Britz midway through the first period to give Wayzata a 1-0 lead. They added goals from Shyla Saunders and Mya Rasmussen 44 seconds apart in the second period to build a 3-0 lead after two.
"Jyrkas was fantastic! Get used to that quote," said Fergus Fall Head Coach Tim Lill. "She kept us in the game against a very fast, sound and complete hockey team. What a great opportunity to learn. Our third period had better energy and the squad didn't quit. That comes from senior leadership. The rest I better figure out by Thursday! Great crowd tonight and that is always appreciated."
