Otter Bowlers Sweep in Perham

The Otter varsity won all three matches on Sunday, securing the regular season title, while Fergus Falls JV Black did the same, finishing on top of the JV division.

The varsity squad defeated New York Mills, 5-0, in match one.  Kyle Korby, Kaydence Knutson, and Nathaniel Whistleon all filled 87% of their frames. Alayna Price (87%) and Nolan Korby (80%) led the way in a 5-0 sweep over Perham in match two, and Whistleon (75%) was team-high in 5-0 win over Wadena in the finale.  The Otter varsity finished the regular season with a record of 17-1.

Fergus Falls JV Black cruised through the bye/ghost team in match one, winning four of five games. Kendra Koep and Maddie Price led the team at 80% fills.  FF JV Black then faced the second-place team, Bemidji Blue, in match two, and it was quite the battle.  The teams tied the first game, with Bemidji Blue taking game two by 48 pins.  JV Black came roaring back with their high game of the season in game three, firing a 233, and the teams are tied up at 1-1-1.  Bemidji Blue takes a 2-1-1 lead after winning game four, putting JV Black in a must win game five.  It would come down to the final frame, with Myia Krensing getting the crucial first strike in the frame, and then followed it up with a game-winning spare conversion, squeaking out the game win by a single pin.  With both teams at 2-2-1, the tiebreaker is total pins for the match.  Bemidji Blue rolled their high series of the year at 783, but FF JV Black had six pins more at 789, earning the victory.  Krensing was team-high at 70% in the win.  Price (80%) and Ian Meyer (70%) led the way as JV Black defeated Bemidji White in match three, 5-0, completing their regular season at 15-3.

Fergus Falls JV Maroon dropped match one to Bemidji Blue, 1-4.  KayLea Weisenberger (62%) and Brody Bray (60%) led the team.  JV Maroon rolled over Bemidji White, 5-0, in match two, with Owen Foreman filling the match at 60% in the win. It was Weisenberger (77%) and Bray (70%) again in match three, as JV Maroon picked up a nice 3-2 win over rivals FF JV Gold, wrapping up their season at 7-11.

Fergus Falls JV Gold picked up two more wins on the year, finishing the season at 10-8.  JV Gold beat Bemidji White, 5-0, in match one.  Brayden Haugen (66%), Gavin Norgren (62%), and Ayden Muchow (62%) led the team in the win.  Tucker Blevins (75%) and Walter Nebbeling (66%) led the way as JV Gold earned a 3-2 win over the bye/ghost team in match two.  Nebbeling was team-high again in match three, a 2-3 loss to FF JV Maroon.

All teams will bowl in the North West Conference Tournament, held at Northern Aire Lanes in Fergus Falls, on Sunday, November 5.  Competition will begin at 11:00am.
