Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta got things going early on Saturday afternoon as they scored 20 first quarter points and led 32-0 before Perham got on the board in the final minute of the first half.  The 32-8 halftime score stood up through a scoreless second half and the third-seeded Tigers advanced to the Section championship game with an upset of the number two seeded Yellowjackets.

The Tigers took the opening kickoff and went 60 yards on 8 plays, scoring on a 22 yard run by quarterback Drew Huebner, who also scored the two-point conversion for an 8-0 MACA lead.  Riley Asmus made it 14-0 with a 38 yard interception return for a touchdown.  The extra-point kick was blocked.  After a 3-and-out for Perham, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta covered 71 yards in 10 plays, resulting in a 2 yard TD run by Mitchell Moser and a 20-0 lead with 3:10 left in the opening quarter.

A 14-play, 86 yard drive led to a 1 yard TD run by Owen Anderson with 3:39 remaining in the first half, increasing the MACA lead to 26-0.  A Derek Waldbeser interception returned the ball to the Tigers, however, a fumble was recovered by Jaxon Vetch of Perham.  The Tiger defense didn’t allow a first down, forcing a punt which gave them possession at their own 38 yard line.  Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta proceeded to go 62 yards in 4 plays with Huebner hitting Asmus with a 40 yard TD pass and a 32-0 advantage.  Perham scored on the ensuing kickoff when Gage Aanenson went 87 yards for the TD.  A successful two-point run by Hudson Hackel put the halftime score at 32-8.

The Tigers had 355 rushing yards and 40 passing yards for 395 yards of total offense.  They also recorded 21 first downs.  Anderson ran for 243 yards on 32 carries to lead the Tigers and Huebner had 57 yards rushing on 13 attempts.  Defensively, Waldbeser, Asmus and Andrew Marty had picks, sacks were recorded by Jonah Huebner and Zach Dietz, and John Kleindl recovered a fumble.

Perham was held to 88 rushing yards and 102 yards passing for 190 yards.  The Yellowjackets managed 12 first downs and had 4 turnovers on the night.  Gavin Griffin ran for 48 yards on 5 carries to lead Perham.  Blaiz Schmidt completed 11-of-25 passes for 102 yards.  His leading receiver was Gage Aanenson with 5 catches for 56 yards.  Defensively, Carson Byer (8 solo tackles, 6 assists), Dylan Ralston (5 solo tackles, 5 assists, 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked kick), Ty Rooney (5 solo tackles, 3 assists), Schmidt (4 solo tackles, 4 assists), Griffin (3 solo tackles, 5 assists), Aanenson (7 solo tackles) and Vetch (2 solo tackles, 3 assists, 1 fumble recovery) all contributed.
