The Underwood Rockets defeated Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal in the first round of the Section 6A volleyball playoffs on Wednesday night, recording a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-14) victory over the Titans. “We knew coming in that they would be a good team,” said Head Coach Breck Grove of the Rockets. “They have played well against some really good teams. The atmosphere in the gym was great and the Rocket team was focused and ready to play!”
Leaders for Underwood were Kallyn Grove (5/5 serves, 1 block, 7 kills, 30 assists, 8 digs), Brooklyn Christianson (14/15 serves, 1 block, 7 kills, 10 digs), Ezrah Baker (14/14 serves, 11 kills, 2 blocks, 12 digs), Liz Lukken (10/10 serves, 12 kills, 1 block, 15 digs), Katie Hess (17/17 serves, 7 digs), Sia Olson (10 digs) and Emma Dirkman (3 kills).
The Rockets will host New York Mills on Friday night in the 6A quarterfinals. “Mills is another team that has a record that is deceiving,” reported Coach Grove. “They are a strong, well-coached team, who just upset Henning in 3 sets on Wednesday night.”
