The high school football season ended on Tuesday night for the Ashby/Brandon-Evansville Bolts as they suffered a 20-0 defeat at the hands of the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders in a Section 6A quarterfinal round contest.  "For “he first 45 minutes of this game, this was an even game, and the only difference was a touchdown on a blocked punt,” stated ABE Head Coach Daniel Johnson.  “We had a minimal advantage in yards gained at that point.  LPA gained 126 yards and scored 14 points in the final three minutes of the game as we had to resort to aggressive defensive calls in an attempt to force turnovers.  The game was much closer that the score indicated.”

Tyson Nerdahl got the Raiders on the board with a 34-yard blocked punt returned for a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Drew Harris scored on runs of 5 and 65 yards and also added a two-point conversion run on his second TD.

LPA had 204 rushing yards and 65 passing yards for 269 total yards, while the Bolts had a total of 207 (148 rushing, 59 passing) yards of offense.

Logan Haburn ran for 104 yards on 19 carries to lead the Bolts and Micah Fuller hand 44 yards on 11 attempts.  Jake Norby was the leading receiver with 3 catches for 28 yards.  Fuller completed 10-of-22 passes for 59 yards.

Defensively, Carter White had an interception, 4 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles.  Solomon Wales recorded 4 solo tackles and assisted on others, William Englund came up with one solo tackle and 8 assists, and Norby was in on 8 tackles.

“We are incredibly proud of how our players and the three communities came together this year,” said Coach Johnson. “The pairing of football for Ashby and Brandon-Evansville had to move fast in the early summer and it was difficult at times. Luckily, our players and parents were very understanding and supportive. I think we laid a good foundation for a successful future. Our seniors—Jake Norby, Logan Haburn, Solomon Wales, Carter White, Fred Schlotfeld, Stephen Hamilton, Ben Seifert, and Isaac Martin—were instrumental in building camaraderie from the start. Those eight players will be extremely missed but their efforts will be impactful for quite a while.”
