The Brandon-Evansville Chargers hosted the Hancock Owls in Section 6A Tournament Volleyball play on Wednesday in Evansville. The home team came through with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) victory. “The game started off with a bang,” reported Head Coach Gina Christopherson of the Chargers. “We came out determined to succeed and hastily took the lead. The Owls worked hard and fought valiantly, but came up short. The atmosphere in the gymnasium was electric!”
The Chargers missed only 3 serves all night, being led by Courtney Brethorst (14/14, 1 ace), Ava Santjer (11/11, 2 aces), Taylor Dingwall (11/12, 2 aces), Haddy Baune (11/12) and Taylor Suchy (16/17, 3 aces).
Kylee Dingwall led the attack with 13 kills and a solo block. Brethorst delivered 16 set assists and Drea Fernholz added 7. Baune and Taylor Dingwall contributed 4 kills each. Defensive leaders were Suchy (12 digs), Taylor Dingwall (9 digs), Kylee Dingwall (8 digs), Brethorst (6 digs) and Hallie Richter (5 digs).
Brandon-Evansville will travel to face Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Friday at 7:00pm.
