The M State volleyball team closed out their regular season schedule with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) victory over Ridgewater College on Friday night, bringing their record to 15-13 overall and 14-2 against MCAC teams. The lady Spartans will open Region XIII play next Friday at 7:00pm against Mesabi Range at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
Cassie Dahl distributed 33 set assists, had 11 digs and was 14-for-15 with 3 aces at the serving line. Kaleigh Sip led the attack with 10 kills and a solo block. Faith Marion added 9 kills, a solo block and a block assists, Kendra Emery chipped in with 8 kills, and Ariana Noplos delivered 7 kills and a solo block. Kaleigh Peterson finished with 4 kills and a block assist while going 7-for-9 on the serving line with 2 aces.
Madi Foss was a perfect 15-for-15 serving, Maddie Ballweg was 10-for-11 with an ace, and Emery was 16-for-18 with a pair of ace serves. Defensively, Emery had a team high 15 digs and Ballweg had 13.
M State received the number two seed from the South and is in a bracket with Mesabi Range (#3 North), Alexandria (#1 North) and Rochester (#4 South).
The other Region Tournament consists of Century College (#1 South), Central Lakes (#2 North), Minnesota West (#3 South) and Northland (#4 North).
The Region Tournaments will take place on Friday and Saturday of next week at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids. The winning team in each Region will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
