The Barnesville Trojans were very efficient on Wednesday night as they scored five touchdown on just 36 plays and converted on all five of their two-point tries to record a 40-0 victory over the Frazee Hornets.  The win was the eighth straight for the Trojans who remained undefeated on the year heading into the Section 8AA playoffs on Tuesday night.  Barnesville, the number one seed, will host Crookston at 6:00pm in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

“This was a fast paced game,” said Head Coach Bryan Strand of the Trojans.  “The game had good flow to it and I felt our kids, for the most part, played decently for the night.  We made a few mistakes here and there, but nothing that was too costly.  Frazee banged with us and fought hard for four quarters.  I was very impressed with their grit.  Their top offensive weapon was Brady Crabtree, he is a phenomenal player.  Coming into the night through 7 games he had rushed for over 1400 yards and had 23 touchdowns.  Our main focus was on stopping him.  He ended the game with 40 yards on 15 carries as the defense did a fantastic job of getting to him early, before he was able to build up speed.”

A 55 yard pass from Zach Bredman to Major Ness setup a one yard TD run by Cameron Halverson on the Trojans first possession, and a two-point conversion pass from Bredman to Jack Maesse gave Barnesville an 8-0 lead.

In the second quarter the Trojans went 60 yards in 5 plays scoring on a 4-yard TD pass from Bredman to Peyton Amundson.  Halverson scored the two-point conversion for a 16-0 lead.  A 40 yard run by Gannon Bolgrean highlighted the drive.

The Trojans had an excellent third quarter, scoring twice and giving up only 17 yards on the ground.  Their first TD came after a 5 play drive was capped by Ethan Larson taking the ball in from 2 yards out and Bredman scoring on the conversion run for a 24-0 lead.  A 7 play drive led to a Bredman to Bolgrean 25 yard touchdown pass and another two-point run from Halverson, increasing the lead to 32-0.

The first possession of the fourth quarter also wound up in the end zone with Larson carrying the ball over the goal line from 25 yards out.  Larson then caught the conversion pass from Bredman for the final points of the 40-0 shutout victory.

Frazee drove down to the 7 yard line but Isaiah Zajack caused a fumble and Kash Tuel recovered it to assure the shutout.

Bolgrean led the ground attack with 117 yards on 6 rushing attempts and Larson had 99 yards on 8 carries.  Bredman completed 6-of-12 passes for 144 yards.  Amundson had 3 catches for 52 yards.  Barnesville had 424 yards of total offense, 280 on the ground and 144 through the air.  Defensively, they allowed 161 total yards (116 rushing, 45 passing).  Larson and Nick Robideau each recorded a sack in the game.  Larson led the team with 7 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles, Robideau had 4 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles and Amundson recorded one solo tackle and assisted on 10 others.

Frazee received the number 4 seed in Section 8AA and will host fifth-seeded Warroad in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday night.  If the Hornets and Trojans both win their first round games, they would clash again on Saturday, October 28, in the Section semifinals.
