Bulldogs Finish Regular Season 8-0 with 37-6 Win Over Hancock

Ottertail Central completed a perfect 8-0 regular season on the gridiron Wednesday night with a 37-6 victory over Hancock in Henning.  Jack Mekalson tossed 3 touchdown passes to Mason Dalluge to lead the Bulldogs to the win.  Hancock ends up 4-3 heading into the post season.

 

Mekalson connected with Dalluge on a 27 yard aerial for their first TD with 9:36 left in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead.  With 4:59 remaining in the quarter, the duo hooked up again, this time on a 12 yard TD pass.  Christian Fronning’s two-point conversion run gave OTC a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Fronning broke loose for a 20 yard TD run and Dalluge ran for the two-point conversion to increase the Bulldogs lead to 22-0. 

Following a Max Mekalson interception early in the second half, OTC scored on a 17 yard pass from Jack Mekalson to Dalluge and another Dalluge two-point score.  That made the score 30-0 Fronning’s 4 yard run capped the OTC scoring and Dilly’s PAT kick made it 37-0.

Hancock got on the board with under six minutes to play in the game when backup quarterback Jordan Chunn scored on a 7 yard run.

Lane Dilly ran the ball 12 times for 73 yards and Fronning had 52 yards on 11 attempts.  Mekalson completed 9-of-19 passes for 112 yards and 3 TD’s.  Dalluge was on the receiving end of 7 passes for 92 yards.

Chase Evink led Hancock with 52 rushing yards on 8 carries and Brayden Kisgen led the receiving corps with 2 catches for 41 yards.

OTC earned the top seed in the Section 4 9-Player playoffs and will receive a first round bye.  Hancock, the number four seed, will host Rothsay on Tuesday night in a quarterfinal round contest.
