Breckenridge played four quarters of solid football on both sides of the ball Wednesday night as they dominated their game with Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, finishing the regular season with a lopsided 36-0 victory over the Wolves. The Cowboys held W-H-A to just 75 rushing yards and 121 total yards, limiting them to 4 first downs. Breckenridge had 309 rushing yards and 98 passing yards for 407 total yards. The Cowboys had 22 first downs on the night.
A 12 yard run by Bailey Evans in the first quarter put the Cowboys on the scoreboard, giving them a 6-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Evans connected with David Erlandson on a 44 yard TD pass and Lawson Oliphant ran the ball in for the two point conversion and a 14-0 halftime lead.
A one yard run and two point conversion run by Paul Armitage gave Breckenridge a 22-0 lead. Oliphant then scored on a one yard TD run for a 28-0 lead at the end of three quarters.
Riley Kappes broke loose for a 60 yard touchdown run and Jaxson Lopez scored the two point conversion to put the final score at 36-0.
Evans completed 5-of-11 passes for 98 yards and ran the ball 9 times for 75 yards to lead the Cowboys. Kappes had 78 rushing yards on 4 carries, Armitage carried the ball 11 times for 66 yards and Erlandson had 60 rushing yards on 8 attempts. Erlandson was the leading receiver with 2 catches for 61 yards and Jacob Kunkel caught two balls for 34 yards. Defensively, Tucker Tshakert had a sack and Dawson Wienbar intercepted a pass. Armitage led the team with 2 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles.
Breckenridge (4-4) takes a 3 game winning streak into the playoffs which begin on Tuesday.
