Vikings Improve to 6-1 with 44-14 Win Over Roseau

Pelican Rapids jumped out to a 24-0 first quarter lead, led 38-0 at the half and went on to post a 44-14 victory over the Roseau Rams on Friday night at Chauncey Martin Field in Pelican.  The Vikings had 418 yards of offense and were led by quarterback Timmy Guler who completed all 8 of his pass attempts for 117 yards and 3 TD’s.  He also ran for 41 yards on 4 carries.

Guler connected with Luke Sjolie on a pair of first quarter touchdowns, the first one covering 12 yards and the second one from 18 yards.  Successful two-point conversion runs by Treyvon Benson and Jack Paulson put the score at 16-0.  Guler’s two-yard TD run and his two-point conversion pass to Justin Jacobson increased the score to 24-0.  Jack Kapenga scored on a 2 yard run on fourth down for a 30-0 lead in the second quarter.  A 41 yard pass to Benson from Guler setup a TD run by Jacobson and a Guler two-point run for a 38-0 halftime lead.

The Vikings final touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Ethan Sjostrom hauled in an 8 yard pass from Mclain Hovland for a 44-0 lead.

Rothsay scored two TD’s in 17 seconds in the fourth quarter.  The first on a 9 yard run by Jordan Borowicz and shortly after that Borowicz ripped the ball away from a Viking runner and scampered into the end zone.  Jake Borowicz converted a pair of two-point conversion runs after the touchdowns.

Sjolie’s two TD catches give him 7 receiving touchdowns this season.  Jack Kapenga ran for 126 yards on 14 carries and Mark Kapenga had 68 yards on 8 attempts.

Jordan Borowicz had a big night for the Rams, running for 166 yards on 20 carries.

Pelican Rapids (6-1) will play at Park Rapids in their final regular season game on Wednesday.
