Cowboys Post 45-0 Shutout of Wadena-Deer Creek

It was all Breckenridge in Wadena on Friday night as the Cowboys registered a 45-0 shutout of the Wolverines.  Breckenridge ran for 349 yards and finished with 397 total yards in the game.  Quarterback Bailey Evans had 129 rushing yards on 10 carries and completed two passes for 60 yards.

 

Lawson Oliphant reached the end zone on a 21 yard run for the first touchdown of the night.  Evans followed the TD with a successful two-point conversion run for an 8-0 Breckenridge lead.  A one yard TD run by Paul Armitage and a two-point run by Armitage extended the lead to 16-0 after one quarter.

In the second quarter the Cowboys took a 24-0 lead on a 10 yard touchdown run by David Erlandson and a two-point run by Evans.

Erlandson scored his second TD of the night on a 9 yard run in the third quarter, increasing the Cowboys lead to 30-0.  Evans scored on a one yard run and booted the PAT kick for a 37-0 lead after three quarters.

The final touchdown of the night came on a 12 yard run by Isiah Hill.  That was followed by a two-point conversion run by Gabriel Armitage.

Erlandson finished the night with 66 yards rushing on 8 carries and two reception for 48 yards.  Riley Kappes carried the football twice for 54 yards.  Defensive leaders were Aidan Sanchez with an interception, Tucker Tsakert with a solo sack and an assisted sack, Erlandson with a solo sack, 3 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles, and Brian Martinez with 3 assisted sacks, and 6 assisted tackles.

Wadena-Deer Creek was held to 50 rushing yards and minus 7 passing yards.

Breckenridge (3-4) will host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley on Wednesday night and Wadena-Deer Creek (2-5) will play at Staples-Motley.
