Rockets Improve to 4-3 with Win at Rothsay

The Underwood football team improved their season record to 4-3 on Friday night when they traveled to Rothsay and recorded a 28-14 victory over the Tigers.  Collin Lukken ran for 162 yards on 16 carries and quarterback Evan Lundgren had 98 rushing yards on 10 tries.  The Rockets had 350 total yards (33 passing, 317 rushing) and the Tigers finished with 264 (110 passing, 154 rushing).

Gaiden Hoeper got the Rockets on the scoreboard in the first quarter when he hauled in a 9 yard TD pass from Lundgren.  Soren Floden added the PAT kick for a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Lundgren scored on a 2 yard run and an extra point kick by Floden put the score at 14-0.  Rothsay cut the lead to 14-6 with a 19 yard touchdown pass.

A 25 yard run to the end zone by Lukken in the third quarter and a third PAT kick by Floden, gave Underwood a 21-6 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Blayre Lundgren’s 5 yard run sealed the deal and Floden tacked on his fourth extra point kick of the night for a 28-6 Underwood lead.  Rothsay finished the night with a 22 yard TD run and a successful two-point conversion, putting the final score at 28-14.

Hoeper led the defensive effort for the Rockets with 6 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles, Evan Lundgren had 4 tackles and 5 assisted tackles, and Brock Hasling had 2 solo tackles and 11 assists.  Kale Rich and Leo Bye each recorded a sack.  Owen Harig, Hasling and Blayre Lundgren each picked off a pass.

Rothsay was led by Peyton Kadel with 52 rushing yards on 17 attempts.  He also had 4 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles.  Ben Metzger had an interception.

Underwood will travel to Ortonville for their regular season finale on Wednesday and Rothsay (2-5) will play at Hillcrest on Wednesday night.
