Hackel's Big Night Carries Yellowjackets to 35-7 Win Over Prowlers

Hudson Hackel ran for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns, caught a 19 yard TD pass and was five-for-five on extra-point kicks, leading Perham to a 35-7 win over Thief River Falls at Ted Meinhover field in Perham on Friday night.

Hackel capped an 11-play, 71-yard scoring drive with a 4 yard run for his first touchdown of the game.  His extra point kick gave the Yellowjackets a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter it took Perham only 5 plays to cover 69 yards with Hackel scoring on a 37 yard run and adding the PAT kick for a 14-0 lead.  That score stood up through the first half.

Hackel’s 27 yard TD run with 7:40 left in the third quarter completed an 8-play, 98 yard scoring drive and following his extra-point kick Perham led 21-0.  A 4 yard run by Blaiz Schmidt and a Hackel PAT kick gave the Yellowjackets a 28-0 lead after three quarters.

Hackel hauled in a 19 yard pass from Schmidt and Hackel booted the PAT for a 35-0 lead with 10:58 remaining in the game.  Jaxon Tanner scored the only Prowlers TD on a 4 yard run and Brayden Spears added the extra point, making the final score, 35-7.

Perham had 289 rushing yards and 85 passing yards for a total of 374 yards.  Schmidt completed 5-of-8 passes for 85 yards and Mason Happel caught 3 passes for 32 yards.  Easton Kennedy had one reception for 34 yards.  Carson Byer was the defensive leader with 5 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles.  Trystan Larson had 4 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles.

The Yellowjackets held Thief River Falls to 188 total yards (168 rushing, 20 passing) on the night.  Jackson Boyer led the ground attack for the Prowlers with 48 yards on 6 carries.  Gabe Winter had 5 rushing attempts for 33 yards and caught one pass for 20 yards.  Quarterback Caleb Rosendahl was 2-for-9 throwing the ball for 20 yards.  Keaton Hoverson recorded a sack and forced a fumble to lead the Prowlers defensive effort.
