The Otter Boys Cross Country team was one of the many teams that traveled to Alexandria to compete at the 50th annual Lion’s Invitational Meet of Champions on Saturday. "This meet is well run and executed," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Derek Meyer. "Hats off to the coaches and community involvement with this meet. This was one of largest meet to take part in with 29 teams with many from the Metro area. This was a showcase of many talented teams and individuals from all 3 classes in the state. All of the races were elbow to elbow from start to finish for all runners. The conditions were cool and ideal for great running and performances. We had many lifetime personal bests, season best or very near at all levels of our program. It was a surprise to see some of the times at this point in the season and for a moderate course."

"Our Varsity squad was shorthanded and ran with 5 runners," reported Coach Meyer. "We had enough to score but fell short of where we wanted to finish."

What follows is Coach Meyer's recap of each race for his individual varsity runners.

Henry Greenagel led the team with a big time drop, going sub 17 minutes. He had been chasing that goal for a while and was great to see that happen for him.

Matthew Tuel finished second on the team, had a lifetime best time of 17:05. He was so close to hitting that sub 17 milestone. I have great confidence he will reach that very soon.

Logan Bredenberg finished 3rd for us, nearing his personal all time best and setting his season best time. Logan has been consistent throughout the season is poised for a big time drop.

Micah Mouser was our 4th runner, he ran his lifetime personal best. Micah has been making great strides and gaining confidence each race.

Tommy Erickson rounded out our scoring 5th place for the team. He was in a good position all race and stayed close to his teammates. Tommy was close to his season best and all time best.

"We will travel to Perham next Thursday. The team also looks forward to this fast race friendly course. We are looking to get some great performances and gain some of our health back too."
