Evans Passes for 207 Yards and 3 Scores as Cowboys Down Eagles 32-6

Breckenridge quarterback Bailey Evans completed 10-of-15 passes for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns on Friday night as the Cowboys handled New York Mills, 32-6.  Dawson Wienbar (2 catches, 71 yards, TD), David Erlandson (2 catches, 58 yards, TD) and Paul Armitage (3 catches, 27 yards, TD) were all on the receiving end of TD passes from Evans.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Cowboys scored on a 26 yard pass from Evans to Wienbar and a 6 yard run and two-point conversion run by Armitage to take a 14-0 halftime lead.

They extended their lead to 20-0 after three quarters when Evans hit Armitage for a 10 yard TD pass.

In the fourth quarter, Evans hooks up with Erlandson on a 44 yard touchdown to give the Cowboys a 26-0 lead.  New York Mills cut the lead to 26-6 on a 42 yard run, however, Breckenridge completed the scoring on the night when Evans ran the ball in from 21 yards out, putting the final score at 32-6.

The Eagle ran the ball well, gaining 232 yards on the ground, but went 0-for-5 throwing the football.  They also lost 3 fumbles and threw an interception, giving them four turnovers on the night.

Breckenridge played turnover free football and finished with 347 total yards.  They were led on the ground by Armitage (10 carries, 64 yards) and Evans (12 carries, 62 yards).  Defensive leaders were Trey Vogelbacher (1 solo tackle, 6 assisted tackles, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries), Armitage (2 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 1 fumble recovery), Jacob Kunkel (1 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles) and Erlandson (6 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles).

Breckenridge (2-4) will play at Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday night.

New York Mills will host Staples-Motley in a 7:00pm home game.
