Hancock quarterback Brady Luthi completed 15-of-25 passes for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns in their 34-16 victory over Rothsay on Friday night. Nathan Kellenberger was on the receiving end of 8 of those passes for 155 yards and a pair of TDs. Titus Bjerketvedt had 2 receptions for 77 yards and 2 scores. Hancock had a total of 344 (254 passing, 90 rushing) yards on the night.
The Owls took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 5 yard touchdown pass from Luthi to Bjerketvedt and increased their lead to 14-0 on a second quarter TD pass from Luthi to Kellenberger covering 90 yards and a Luthi two-point conversion run. Rothsay got on the board with a 50 yard touchdown pass and a successful two-point conversion to cut the lead to 14-8 at the half.
In the third quarter, Kellenberger caught a 37 yard pass from Luthi to make it a 20-8 Hancock lead. Bjerketvedt followed with an 18 yard TD reception from Luthi. Luthi hit Hudson Versteeg for the two-point conversion and a 28-8 advantage for the Owls. An 86 yard interception return by Kellenberger made it 34-8 after three quarters.
Rothsay completed the scoring with a one yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Donovan Curfman (5 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss) and Chase Evink (3 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 2 tackles for loss) were the defensive leaders for the Owls. Evink was their leading rusher with 64 yards on 15 attempts.
Hancock (3-2) will play at Underwood Friday night, while Rothsay (1-4) hosts Ortonville.
