West Central Area Cross Country participated in the Border Battle at Grand Forks, ND on Saturday. The race brings teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, Minnesota, and even Canada. Over 45 teams participated in the races today, with West Centrals boys and girls varsity teams scoring 17th and 11th, respectively.

For the girls Nora Anderson led the way, receiving 42nd overall with a time of 21:53. In second was Blaire Reuter who finished 66th overall and a time of 22:38.  Senior Taylor Bennett finished 3rd for the girls, followed by seniors Terina Blascyk, Alexa Blume, and Chloe Hagen to round out the team.

For the boys, Carter Kjesbo had been great all year, finishing 38th with a time of 17:58. Freshman Isaac Allen came in second for the team and 110th overall, with a PR of 19:30. Sophomore Aaron Biss was third, followed by Zeke Sieckert, Michael Girard, Simon Moritz, and Tayden Amundson

“Overall it was a hot, but great day for West Central,” said Head Coach Austin Hanson. “Many personal bests were accomplished and it's a great primer for some of the higher stakes races at the end of the season. I was proud of our efforts and the ability to stay calm when we're uncomfortable. We have plenty to work on, though, so we'll hopefully recover quickly for our meet October 5th in Hawley.”
