Nachbor Scores 3 TDs to Lead Border West Past Rockets, 26-20

The Border West Buccaneers and Underwood Rockets combine for 772 yards of total offense on Friday night with the Bucs taking a 26-20 victory over the Rockets.  Underwood had 273 rushing yards and 108 passing yards for 381 yards of total offense.  Border West finished with 391 (182 passing, 209 rushing) total yards.  Each team had 17 first downs on the night.

Brody Nachbor scored the first of his three touchdowns on a 45 yard pass play in the first quarter, giving Border West a 6-0 lead.  A 37-yard run by Collin Lukken made it 6-6 at the end of one.

A five yard run by the Buccaneers gave them a 12-6 lead, but Underwood took a 13-12 lead when Blayre Lundgren broke loose for a 61 yard TD run and Soren Floden booted the extra point.  Nachbor put Border West back on top with a 9 yard run and the Bucs added the two-point conversion run by Kevin Casper for a 20-13 halftime lead.

Lukken punched the ball in from the one yard line and Floden tied the game at 20-20 with a PAT kick in the third quarter.  Nachbor then went 53 yards for what turned out to be the game winning score.

Lukken (22 carries, 133 yards, 2 TDs) and Blayre Lundgren (15 carries, 124 yards, TD) both ran for over 100 yards in the game.  Owen Harig had 3 receptions for 70 yards and Evan Lundgren completed 6-of-11 passes for 108 yards.  Defensively, Kale Rich recorded a sack, had 3 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles, Gaiden Hoeper had 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles, and Brock Hasling had 5 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles.  Noah Link snagged an interception.

Nachbor led Border West with 226 rushing yards on 20 carries and caught 3 passes for 47 yards.   Marshall Tolifson completed 13-of-16 passes for 144 yards.  Tucker Blume caught 4 passes for 51 yards to lead the Bucs.  Defensive leaders were Kevin Casper (7 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles) and Holden Rinke (6 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles).

Border West (3-1) will host Hillcrest on Friday night, while Underwood (2-3) has a home game against the Hancock Owls.
