The Breckenridge Cowgirls hosted the Barnesville Trojans in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference volleyball match on Thursday night with the Cowgirls sweeping the match in 3 sets.  Set scores were 25-20, 25-18, 25-23.

Breckenridge served 95% for the night, led by Parker Yaggie, who was perfect from the line at 15-of-15, led all servers.  She also added 6 kills, 16 set assists and 11 digs.  Kolle Schuler (14/15, 2 aces, 16 set assists, 6 digs), Hailee Hanson (13/13, 1 ace, 2 block assists, 14 digs), Sydni Roberts (13/14 serving, 1 ace, 19 digs), Katlyn Kaehler (10/10 serving, 8 kills, 2 block assists, 15 digs), Julia Kleisman (4 kills), Erin Blaufuss (6 kills, 2 solo blocks, 5 block assists) and Jaelle Ernst (3 block assists, 1 solo block) all contributed to the match win.

"We played hard at times, however we just couldn’t string a full set together," said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. "We really need to get past giving up small runs and finding ourselves down by 4-5 points at a time. I thought that overall our effort and intensity was much better tonight and we played together much more tonight than we did on Tuesday night in Henning.  I thought that we could have served a tougher 1st ball tonight to the Cowgirls to take them out of their offensive system. We played it safe in the first set and then did work their passers a little more in sets 2 and 3. Our block was not very evident tonight and didn’t do a great job of slowing some attacks down for our back row passers. Macie did a nice job moving herself around in the back court and getting in position on defense. Lexi had a nice night up on the net attacking the ball strong and putting away some kills."

Leaders for the Trojans were Lexi Hoeft (9 kills, 9/10 serving, 2 aces, 4 digs), Macie Pauna (7 kills, 8/9 serving, 1 ace, 6 digs), Amelia Newell (13 set assists, 13/13 serving, 1 ace, 4 digs, 5 kills), Sophie Frederick (13 set assists, 10/11 serving, 1 ace), Abby John (5 kills), Kenadee Gray (13/13 serving, 1 ace, 12 digs) and Lydia Braton (6/6 serving, 1 ace, 3 kills).

"We are right there, we just need to battle it out a little bit harder and make sure that we are the ones working to create the plays and score," added Coach Askegaard. "At  times, we are playing a little too careful and afraid of making mistakes out on the court."
