Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg used a 28 point first quarter to build a 28-6 halftime lead and went on to post a 34-6 victory over the West Central Area Knights on Friday night.  KMS quarterback Jared Cortez hooked up with Hunter Kallstrom on 3 TD passes to lead the Fighting Saints to the victory.

KMS got things going early as Jett Olson broke loose for a 79 yard touchdown run.  Luisao Padilla’s extra point kick gave the Fighting Saints a 7-0 lead.  WCA cut the lead to 7-6 on a 6-yard pass from Brady Lindquist to Hunter Gruchow.  The two-point try failed for the Knights. Cortez connected with Kallstrom on an 89 yard TD pass and Padilla added the PAT for a 14-6 lead.  That lead increased to 20-6 on a 34 yard Cortez to Kallstrom pass and went to 28-6 when Cortez got the ball to Kallstrom from 5 yards out and KMS converted their two-point try.

The only touchdown of the second half was a 14 yard run by Olson in the fourth quarter.  The extra point kick was no good and the Fighting Saints had the 34-6 win.

Leaders for the Knights were Lindquist (10-29 passing, 87 yards, TD), Samuel Hanson (11 carries, 46 yards, 5 receptions, 49 yards) and Adam Lohse (6 tackles).

West Central Area (2-2) will host Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Friday night in Barrett.
