The Perham football team built a 21-0 halftime lead and went on to post a 28-14 victory over the Little Falls Flyers at Ted Meinhover Field in Perham on Friday night.  A pair of first half interceptions led to a pair of touchdowns in the first half as the defense gave the Yellowjackets excellent field position at the Flyers 21 and 40.  Sawyer Dilbeck and Blaiz Schmidt each had a pick for Perham.

Perham’s first TD came on a 9 yard run by Tyrus Coudron with 5:17 left in the opening quarter.  It was followed by an extra point kick by Hudson Hackel.

Braylon Rach scored the second TD of the night on a 3 yard run and Hackel tacked on the PAT for a 14-0 lead with 11:18 to play in the half.  A one yard run by Schmidt at the 6:47 mark of the second quarter, and a kick by Hackel gave Perham their 21-0 halftime advantage.

Little Falls scored at 3:06 of the 3rd on a 27 yard run by Joey Welinski, capping a 12-play, 80-yard scoring drive and cutting the Perham lead to 21-7 after the extra point kick by Derrick Young.

The Yellowjackets got their 3 touchdown lead back with 10:26 on the clock in the fourth quarter when Schmidt carried the ball in from the two yard line.  Hackel’s PAT kick put the score at 28-7.  The Flyers answered with another 80 yard drive that resulted in a 27-yard scoring toss from Gavin Anderson to Tarique Toure.  Young booted the PAT through the uprights to make the final score, 28-14, Yellowjackets.

Perham finished with 174 rushing yards and 39 yards through the air, giving them 213 yards of total offense.  Rach (17 carries, 76 yards) and Hackel (14 carries, 69 yards) led the Perham rushing attack and Schmidt was 6-for-8 throwing the football with Mason Happel hauling in 3 passes for 15 yards.  Defensively, Carson Byer was in on a team high 11 tackles (6 solo, 5 assisted) and Gage Aanenson recorded 6 solo tackles.  Braylon Rach had the lone sack.

Little Falls had a total of 297 yards (148 rushing, 149 passing).  Welinski led Little Falls with 12 carries for 89 yards and Hank LeClair ran the ball 11 times for 66 yards.  Anderson threw 35 passes, completing 13 of them for 128 yards.  Edward Sobiech was their leading receiver with 5 catches for 54 yards.

Perham is now 2-2 on the season.  They will travel to Fergus Falls for the Otters homecoming game on Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 6:00pm.
