The Rothsay volleyball team went 0-3 this past week, but battled through a pair of five set matches with Lake Park-Audubon and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley before losing both 3-2.  The Frazee Hornets won the other match during the week in straight sets.  “What a great week of volleyball,” said Rothsay Head Coach Tanya Kort.  “We came out swinging hard and playing cohesively, against solid, scrappy teams.  Our defense has been giving us the chance to stay in the game and now our offense is starting to come around and help us to get some set wins.”

Stat leaders during the week were Elli Meyer (46/49 serving, 2 aces, 6 kills, 2 blocks, 89 assists, 18 digs), Gracyn Petersen (34/41 serving, 2 aces, 19 digs), Lisa Kjelgaard (25/27 serving, 2 aces, 4 assists, 45 digs), Bethany Danielson (43/48 serving, 7 aces, 19 kills, 1 block, 33 digs), Savannah Sullivan (38/41 serving, 37 kills, 2 blocks, 49 digs), McKenzie Tillman (27/31 serving, 2 aces, 24 kills, 25 digs), Grace Carlsrud (13/14 serving, 2 aces, 4 kills, 2 digs), Brooklyn Weiers (20 kills, 3 blocks, 7 digs) and Kali Brandt (3 kills, 1 block, 3 digs).

“Things are really starting to fall into place for this team,” added Coach Kort.  “They have come a long way in a short time and the last piece of the puzzle that needs to settle in for us is the ‘play to win’ mentality form beginning to end of each set and match.”

Rothsay will host Brandon-Evansville Tuesday, play at Hancock Thursday and participate in the Lisbon High School Tournament in Lisbon, North Dakota on Saturday, September 30.
