Molly Burkstrand scored a goal into the top left hand corner of the net in the first half to give visiting St. Cloud Tech a 1-0 lead of the Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team at the Otter Stadium.  In the second half she scored her second goal of the night on a breakaway and the Tigers led 2-0.  “She is a great player and she was all over the field tonight, making numerous runs,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.

Fergus Falls cut the deficit to 1 after Vanessa Vaughn drilled a direct kick from 25 yards out bar down.  The Otters had a few more quality chances but just couldn’t get the equalizer.  With about 8 minutes left, Maggie O’Hara found a loose ball in the box and put the Tigers back up by 2 goals.

Rylynn Krein, in our opinion, had her best game as goalkeeper for the Otters tonight,” added Coach Jurgens.  “She stopped her 3rd penalty kick in as many games and got to shots tonight she was not getting to early in the season.  We are very proud of her.  Our girls don’t like to lose, but we played a solid game.  We got better and we have good film to watch on our improvements, while still looking for areas of concern.

Fergus Falls (2-6-2) will host Detroit Lakes at 1:00pm Saturday.
