Fergus Falls had a home volleyball match with Central Lakes Conference foe Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday and the Storm returned home with a hard fought 3-2 (25-15, 25-11, 20-25, 19-25, 15-7).  “The Otters took the floor with a little different rotation than they are used to,” commented Head Coach Sabrina Noon.  “With Macee Butler going down in the Sartell game, Hannah Johnson (15 digs) took the floor wearing the white jersey.  Brook Zierden (5 kills, 6 digs, 2 block assists) also played a new role with playing all the way around and hitting outside for the Otters.”

The Otters started slow with poor passing and little blocking in the first two sets.  They found their groove in the third and fourth sets, playing very well as a team to square the match at two sets each.  “We made some adjustments in our block and Rachel DeBrito (3 kills, 3 assisted blocks, 1 solo block) and Bella Anderson (1 ace, 1 kills, 3 assisted blocks) put up a big wall for the Storm to get around,” said Coach Noon.  “Our passing also came alive to run some offense when Grey Korinek (5 aces, 4 digs, 3 kills, 1 assisted block), Brook Zierden and Brynn Sternberg (18 digs, 5 kills, 1 assisted block) had some crucial kills in the game.  Karyssa Eberle (20 set assists, 5 kills, 2 assisted blocks, 2 digs) did a great job running the floor and took some great opportunities to get a few kills of her own.  Our Otters played with some grit tonight and with a lot of heart.  The fifth set, we struggled shutting down their big middle.  Overall, it was a good night for our lakes and we look on building up from here.”
