The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team recorded a 4-3 win over St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday at the Otter Stadium.  “We are happy to get the win tonight,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “The girls have kept working hard and deserve to feel good about their effort.”

Fergus Falls took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Madi Budke on a partial breakaway.  Budke put the ball in the low right had corner with an assist from Olivia Jurgens.  Jurgens then made it 2-0 from Aubree Nelson inside the box.  Ella Starzl scored to build the lead to 3-0 before Apollo broke free and scored on a breakaway to cut the lead to 3-1 at the half.

Vanessa Vaughn initiated a corner kick into the box and Budke put a solid shot toward the goal.  Nelson then put a beautiful tip re-direct past the goalie for a 4-1 Fergus Falls lead.  Apollo scored the final two goals, but their comeback bid fell short.

Fergus Falls will host St. Cloud Tech at 7:00pm Thursday.
