Huskies Take Advantage of 2nd Quarter Miscues by Cowboys to Record 39-15 Win

The Pillager Huskies scored 27 points in the second quarter as they built a 33-7 halftime lead on the Breckenridge Cowboys and went on to record a 39-15 victory.  Pillager piled up 314 rushing yards in the game and finished with 340 total yards on the night.  They also capitalized on 3 second quarter interceptions, two of which led to touchdowns.

Pillager scored on a 23 yard run for a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.  Breckenridge took a 7-6 lead when Bailey Evans hooked up with Cooper Roberts on a 13 yard TD pass and then Evans booted the extra point.

Second quarter touchdowns came on runs of 30, 25, 42 and 12 yards for the Huskies.  Pillager added a 10 yard TD run in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 39-7.

Riley Kappes scored the second Breckenridge touchdown on a one yard run in the fourth quarter.  That was followed by a successful two-point conversion run by Lawson Oliphant.

Kappes ran for 94 yards on 4 rushing attempts and Roberts was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 32 yards.  Evans was 6-for-14 throwing the football for 58 yards.  David Erlandson led the defensive effort with 7 tackles and Oliphant had an interception.  The Cowboys had 197 rushing yards and 103 passing yards for a total of 300 yards of offense.  They ran 63 offensive plays compared to 33 for the Huskies.
