East Grand Forks Defense Shuts Down Perham

East Grand Forks held Perham to 129 (51 rushing, 78 passing) total yards and 6 first downs, while forcing three turnovers in a 13-9 victory over the Yellowjackets on Friday night at Ted Meinhover Field in Perham. 

Clyde Anderson got EGF on the board with a one yard run at the 7:03 mark of the first quarter.  Drew Carpenter tacked on the seventh point. 

Perham pulled even with a 28 yard TD pass from Blaiz Schmidt to Gage Aanenson and an extra-point kick by Hudson Hackel with 11:53 left in the first half.

A 14 yard run by Jordan Nowacki gave the Green Wave a 13-7 lead with 10:07 remaining in the third quarter.  The extra-point kick was blocked.  Perham registered a safety with 3:50 left in the quarter, cutting the East Grand Forks lead to 4 points at 13-9 and ending the scoring for the night.

Leaders for East Grand Forks were Anderson (15 carries, 55 yards) and Nowacki (11 carries, 54 yards).  Carpenter completed 5-of-12 passes for 51 yards and Damian Bushaw caught two passes for 15 yards.  Nowacki caught one pass for 20 yards.  Defensively, Nowacki and Bushaw each had an interception and Anderson recovered a fumble.  Cole Bies recorded a pair of sacks and Ryan Rockstad also had a sack.

Defensive leaders for the Yellowjackets were Aanenson and Mason Happel with an interception apiece and Brandon Sandberg with a sack.  Dylan Ralston forced a fumble and Carson Byer registered a team high 9 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles.  Cash Burke had 6 solo tackles and 6 assists, and Jaxon Vetch finished the night with 4 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles.  Offensively, Schmidt was 3-for-10 passing for 78 yards, Aanenson had 2 receptions for 68 yards and Hudson Hackel was the top rusher with 28 yards on 10 attempts.

Perham (1-2) will host Little Falls on Friday night, while East Grand Forks (2-1) has a home game against Fergus Falls.
