State ranked BOLD took care of West Central Area in 3 sets on Thursday night, winning 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.  “BOLD has been on a rampage this week, defeating Sauk Centre in four on Tuesday,” reported Head Coach Missy Foslien of the lady Knights.  “We knew that they were going to be very strong and tall and tough.”

WCA had an excellent serving night, missing only 3 serves in 65 attempts.  Mya Foslien (13/13), Macy Grosz (12/12, 2 aces), Madelyn Westrom (10/10) and Wylie McNally (4/4) were all perfect from the line.  Whitney Westrom was 10-for-11, Izzy Puchalski was 9-for-10 with an ace and Alaina Sykora was 4-for-5.

Grosz had 26 set assists and 8 digs, Foslien had 15 digs, 14 kills and 3 blocks, Madelyn Westrom led the team with 18 digs and Whitney Westrom added 11.  Madi Fagre added 7 kills, 5 digs and 3 blocks and Puchalski had 4 kills and 3 digs.  Jaclynn Nelson contributed 3 kills.

“In the first set it was back-and-forth, but we never had the lead,” noted Coach Foslien.  “In sets two and three we were up both times, buy four, and let them come back with some serving runs.  Our serve receive wasn’t the greatest, but we held our own.  Our hitters stayed aggressive. Their outside hitters were super aggressive and we did our best to try to get touches and defend them.  I am pleased with our effort tonight.  We can get better, we know what we need to work on.”

Next week the lady Knights will face Montevideo at home on Tuesday and Sauk Centre on Thursday, also at home.
