The weather delays could not hold back the Cardinal Boys Soccer team tonight in finding a dramatic draw against St Cloud Apollo. The weather delayed the start of the match but the teams were eager to get on the pitch. With some fuel from previous seasons, the Cardinals were ready to take on the #5 ranked team in Class AA for the only regular season match. While the Cardinals certainly showed up to play, they continued to keep pace with the Eagles. Strong, physical play showed as the theme of the match.

The Cardinals lone goal came from a set piece just outside the penalty box, where Cole Haabla was able to send an excellent cross ball into the 6 yard area where Otto Anderson was able to finish the goal in the 69th minute of play. Unfortunately, the Eagles quickly countered and found their lone goal in the 70th minute of play.

While the match ended in a draw, this only shows the strength of the Cardinal Boys Soccer team, currently ranked 19th in Class AA, as a team that can play with the top teams in our section and state.

The Gatorade of the Game went to goalkeeper, Ethan Calrson, who has shown dramatic improvement during the past few matches and made many great saves this match to keep the Cardinals alive.

The Cardinal Boys Soccer team is currently 4-1-3 on the season and will look to host the St Cloud Tech Tigers on Tuesday evening for another 2 point conference matchup. Kick off for that match will be at 7pm at Viking Bank Field.
