The Pelican Rapids Vikings hosted their Pelican Rapids Invitational tournament Saturday, September 9th.  After taking 3rd last year, the Vikings were determined to climb the ladder this year and win our home tournament.  With a lot of hard work and determination that is exactly what these girls did today.

The Vikings were coming off of a long and a wearing week and did an amazing job pushing through the fatigue and soreness. The Vikings have suffered a few injuries that have put some big changes in our line ups over the past few weeks.  These girls handled these changes with great class and teamwork and they played hard all day.  It was a total team effort and great way to end a big week of volleyball.

The Vikings played Lake Park-Audubon in round I and won both sets 25-9 and 25-20.  The Vikings then played Rothsay in round 2 and won 2 close sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-22.  Round 3 we matched up with Hillcrest and had a great back and forth battle to split the sets 25-22 and 14-25. Round 4 the Vikings matched up with Battle Lake and won both sets 25-17 and 25-17.  Going into our last round with Breckenridge there was a 3 way tie with Breckenridge, Hillcrest, and Pelican Rapids.  We knew we needed both sets to pull off the win and the girls fought hard to get it done.  They Vikings won a close battle with scores of 25-23 and 29-27.  I was so proud of this great team effort displayed today and how hard they worked through many challenges.
