The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team took a road trip to Willmar on Thursday where they lost a tough 1-0 contest to the Cardinals.  The only goal was scored with 15 minutes left in the game.

“Our girls continue to improve each game,” reported Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters.  “In our last three games we have played three really good teams in Sartell, Brainerd and Willmar.  Brainerd is a Class AAA team and Willmar is one of the top teams in the section.  We have only give up 6 total goals in those 3 games.  What’s nice to see is the girls learning the system and becoming better team players as we improve.  It is frustrating to lose, of course, everyone want to win.  But, we have a plan to hopefully be playing our best soccer in October and in order to do that we have to learn a variety of positions that numerous players have to play in each game.  The girls have been fantastic in trusting the process.”

Fergus Falls (1-4-1) will travel to Cold Spring next Thursday for another Central Lakes Conference battle with Rocori.
