The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville Bolts took the field for the first time on Friday night in Brandon, hosting the Win-E-Mack Patriots.  The Bolts scored with under 14 seconds to play in the first half to take a 12-8 lead at intermission, however, the Patriots scored on their first possession of the second half to regain the lead and went on to finish the scoring early in the fourth quarter, recording a 22-12 victory and spoiling the home opener for A-B-E.

Micah Fuller scored the first touchdown of the season on a 7 yard run, capping a 7-play, 85-yard scoring drive that featured a 35 yard pass over the middle to Jake Norby and a 23 yard run by Fuller to setup the TD.  A missed two-point try left the score at 6-0.

Win-E-Mac tied the game on a first down run of 70 yards by Ryan Kangas at 10:12 of the second quarter, and took an 8-6 lead when Kangas took a pass in the flat and then connected with Cameron Bergman on the two-point conversion.

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville went 63-yards on 12 plays and got the lead back on a 9-yard Logan Haburn run with 13.7 ticks left in the first half.  A failed two-point attempt left the Bolts with a 12-8 halftime advantage.

Win-E-Mac took the opening kick-off of the second half and went 61 yards in 6 plays with quarterback Braylon Hamre scoring on a 32 yard run with 8:30 to play in the third quarter.  With a failed two-point try the scored favored the Patriots, 14-12.

A Carter White interception near the goal line stopped a long drive short of the end zone and gave the Bolts an opportunity to get the go ahead TD, however, they were forced to punt and the result turned out to be disastrous for the home team as Kangas fielded the punt and raced 70 yards for his second big TD of the night.  He also bulled his way into the end zone for the successful two-point conversion, giving the visitors a 10 point lead at 22-12 with under 11 minutes to play.  A good kick return gave the Bolts good starting position at the Win-E-Mac 44.  They drove down inside the ten yard line before turning the ball over on a fumbled snap.  It was the only turnover of the game for Ashby-Brandon-Evansville.

The Bolts had a pair of interceptions from Bryce Froemming and Carter White, and Froemming also recovered a fumble.

Fuller completed 7-of-18 passes for 110 yards.  Norby caught two passes for 58 yard.  Fuller (13 carries, 68 yards) and Haburn (14 carries, 68 yards) led the rushing attack.  A-B-E finished with 271 yards of total offense.

Kangas ran the ball 12 times for 159 yards and caught one pass for 13 yards, in addition to his 70 yard punt return.  Hamre added 82 rushing yards on 22 carries and threw for 18 yards, completing 2-of-8 pass attempts.  W-E-M had 279 total yards in the contest.

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville will play at Rothsay next Friday night.
