West Central Area recorded a 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17) volleyball victory over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Thursday in the home opener for the lady Knights. “We had very even play and some very long rallies,” said Head Coach Missy Foslien. “Tonight was a great display of offense. Our passing and defense was much improved from our first conference match versus Sauk Centre.”
Leaders for WCA were Mya Foslien (15/17 serving, 1 ace, 21 digs, 19 kills, 1 block), Macy Grosz (18/19 serving, 45 set assists, 12 digs, 2 kills, 1 block), Whitney Westrom (18/19 serving, 2 aces, 9 digs, 10 kills), Madelyn Westrom (12/13 serving, 27 digs), Izzy Puchalski (12/14 serving, 1 ace, 12 digs, 9 kills), Wylie McNally (5/6 serving, 5 digs) and Alaina Sykora (6/8 serving, 2 aces, 5 digs). Jaclynn Nelson added a pair of blocks, 4 digs and 5 kills, while Madi Fagre had 13 kills, 8 digs and a block.
“We had multiple leaders on the board tonight,” acknowledged Coach Foslien. “Madi Fagre stepped it up big time. We told her this week to unleash and play aggressively and she delivered. Madelyn Westrom switched positions and stepped into the libero role and did phenomenal. Macy Grosz had a great performance and Mya Foslien had some amazing saves.”
The lady Knights take on Melrose and Minnewaska Area in matches next week.
