The Breckenridge girls’ volleyball team began their 2023 season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-19) victory over the Hancock Owls. The Cowgirls served 92% for the match with Kolle Schuler (9-9) and Sydni Roberts (11-11) both serving 100%. Other top servers were Parker Yaggie (13-14) and Grace Nicholson (19-21, 1 ace).
Erin Blaufuss and Hailee Hanson led the attack with 9 kills each, while Julie Kleisman and Yaggie added 6 kills apiece. Blaufuss also had 3 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks to lead the Cowgirls at the net.
Defensively, Roberts had a team high 17 digs. Yaggie contributed 8 digs. Nicholson and Hanson had 7 digs each. Yaggie’s 16 set assists led Breckenridge and Schuler distributed 7 assists.
Leaders for Hancock were Brooke Ver Steeg (7 kills, 3 aces, 5 digs, 1 block), Eva Schafer (4 kills, 5 digs), Kaylynn Christianson (3 kills, 2 block assists), Misti Zempel (9 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs), Kaitlyn Rohloff (4 kills, 13 digs, 1 block), Rylie Mattson (2 kills, 1 ace, 19 digs, 2 assists) and Kaitlyn Staples (2 kills, 20 assists, 1 block).
