Head Coach Hayley Stevens begins her sixth year with the Ashby Arrows and will be assisted by Meg Downer at the varsity level and Cortney Atkinson will coach the junior high. “We are young, although we have a few returning starters they were young last year and may not have seen time with players who are stepping in to fill key positions this season.”
Returning starters are senior Brookelinn Finkelson, juniors Lucy Ohren and Jess Schlundt and freshman Chloe Finkelson.
“We are moving some athletes to new spots and as well as some girls learning multiple positions in the hopes that we can deepen our understanding on and off the court, allowing us to have options,” added Coach Stevens. “Flexibility and adaptation is something we are discussing often this preseason. Many girls are taking on these new positions with a fantastic attitude and work ethic and the gym vibe is hard working and positive, which is all a head coach can ask for when older grade numbers are low.”
Stevens tabs Parkers Prairie, Underwood and Hillcrest as the top teams in the Little Eighth Conference and Section 6A.
