The Fergus Falls boys’ soccer team opened its season with a road contest against Minnewaska area in Glenwood on Thursday. The Otters were kept off the scoreboard in a 1-0 loss to the Lakers. The Otter JV team won their game, 1-0, as Parker Kantrud scored the lone goal and Leo Schierer got the shutout.
“Our varsity guys started slow in the first half and did not take very good control of the ball, allowing Minnewaska to beat our defense and get their lone goal about midway through the first half,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Joel Heikes. “The second half looked better as we had many opportunities, but ran out of time before we could get one in the back of the net.”
Fergus Falls will host Melrose on Saturday with the JV game starting at 11:00am and the varsity contest scheduled for a 1:00pm start.
